Company History

EXPLORER Software Solutions Ltd. was started in
1987 by John Pullar, Glenn Jones, and Andrew Clennett.
The company was privately held until April 1, 2011 when it was acquired by P2 Energy Solutions Ltd.
The
main objective of the company was, and still is, to provide a computerized property
management solution to the oil and gas industry.
Initially this solution was developed to
run on an IBM System 36. In 1988, the entire application was redesigned to allow for
integration with an IBM AS/400. Then, in 1991, a new initiative was scheduled to redesign
and rewrite the property management system using Micro Focus COBOL, allowing it to be run
on UNIX and/or IBM AS/400 and to be operational on any SQL-compliant database. In 1993, EXPLORER
redesigned the system one more time using PowerBuilder, this time making the software
compatible with Microsoft Windows as well as any SQL-compliant database.
This new
solutionCS*EXPLORER©was released in the fall of 1995.
EXPLORER's share of the market place has grown substantially over the
years. Currently it services and supports over 200+ clients, making EXPLORER
one of the largest suppliers of property management software in the Canadian oil and gas
industry.
